As a member of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development Group (OECD), Canada is one of the wealthiest nations in the world. Canada produces and exports numerous commodities including natural forest products, manufactured items including automobiles, oil and minerals. Although Canada’s main export market is the United States their economy is open to global commerce. Canada’s GDP in the first quarter of 2017 grew at 3.7%.

Canada has three levels of government. The Federal government is responsible for the country, the Provincial government is responsible for education, health care and highways, and Municipal governments ar responsible for city matters. The Federal government consists of the Head of State Elizabeth II, the House of Commons which makes Canada's laws, the Prime Minister Justin Trudeau who chooses his cabinet, and the Senate which reviews laws proposed by the House. The Federal government consists of the Lieutenant Governor to represent the Queen and the Legislative Assembly which makes law. The Municipal government consists of a mayor and council to lead locally.
